Its a Bat!

Its a Bird! No…Its a Butterfly! Nope…Its a Bat! Its always a thrill for me to see some other forms of wildlife on a birding day! Too bad, my birding pals weren’t with me today! Having recently read “Bird Sense” written by Tim Birkhead, I am enthralled by how bats navigate and detect their preys through echolocation.  Its a very good book, and I highly recommend!

This cutie little vampire was just fluttering about at the entrance of Kadoorie Farm in Hong Kong in broad day light!!  Did anyone lose a pet? 🙂 BTW, in China, bat is a symbol for good fortune and happiness…

“Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you’re at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you’re at!”- Alice in Wonderland
